Introduction to the Course
Fashion Designing (FD)Level 2’ has been developed for those young people who possess basic cutting and stitching skills and wants to advance their understanding and skills for Fashion Designing. The course will facilitate them to broaden their ideas and help them learn advance skills for dress designing and development of relevant accessories
Course Objective
The program will facilitate the students to
  •  Learn and use the core concepts of fashion designing including the types of colors, patterns etc. in creating a variety of products.
  • Advance their understanding and skills for fabric selection, measurements, fashion illustration, pattern making, cutting, sewing, draping, adding accessories and dress finishing.
  • Gain skills for different types of stitching and use of various embellishments
  • Acquire competency in developing the following types of dresses
    • Asian Dresses: Ladies’ & Gents’ Shalwar Qameez, Sari, Step Frock, Different types of Trousers, Bridal, Mughal and Arabian dresses.
    • Western Dresses: Bubble Blouse, Cinderella and Bridal Maxi, Suzy Flower Tops and Bustier Dress
  • Use adobe Photoshop and illustrator for developing innovative designs.
  • Generate ideas to initiate one’s own business using fashion designing skills
  • Advance their skills for working effectively in teams and boost their confidence for public communication and presentations

  • Minimum Qualification: Matric

  • Create Mood board according to the selected Theme
3. Fashion Illustration
  • Sketch silhouettes
  • Sketch draping of preferred outfit
  • Render outfits
  • Learn the methods of sketching a silhouette
  • Design outfit over the sketched silhouette
  • Render color, prints, folds and design with the help of different coloring mediums

7.Template (Block) making
  • Cut basic patterns, from boxboard, of:

  • Cut out Basic Bodice blocks from boxboard
  • Use the Basic Template to attain different designs.
 8. Fabric Selection
  • Introduction to a variety of fabric types
  • Experimentation of color fasting, shrinkage and care
  • Swatch collecting
  • Use and assess the texture of different types of fabrics.
  • Apply design ideas according to the texture of the fabric
  • Make a Swatch Book (small pieces of different types of fabrics) for future reference.
9. Stitching and Sewing of Special Fabrics

  • Make groups to work on the related assignment of accessorizing.
