Introduction to the Course

Textile Designing is an Art which has acquired a great deal of importance in the Fashion Industry.  The course aims at facilitating the students in understanding colors and design and develop skills for manual fabric painting and printing using a variety of techniques.

Course Objective

This course will facilitate the students to:

• Enhance their imagination and creativity for producing innovative design and ideas
• Understand the basics of textile printing and painting.
• Design innovative motives using various color combinations to create patterns.
• Develop skills for various forms of textile design including fabric painting, screen printing, tie and die and block printing.
• Generate ideas to initiate one’s own business using textile designing skills.
• Advance their skills for working in teams and boost their confidence for public communication and presentations

• Basic English and Mathematic Skills
• Interest for learning textile designing

Silk Painting	Different Techniques using: Color Mixing (Definition of color, creating Shades, Dilution) Gutta (Lead form to create a boundary helping paint from spreading) Salt Sugar Water Different Textures using: Chines Salt Lemon Juice Alcohol Clear Gutta Dye Stroke (Through Dry Brush) Paint Diluted with Water Dyes used on Dry Silk Painting on Damp Silk Painting on Dry Silk Color Blending and Shading Different Methods of: Using Salt Solution Discharge Paste Technique using anti spread background Thickener	Observe and Follow the facilitator’s Instructions in Class and Create sample for each Technique. Create Samples for Scarf, Bags, Mats, Panels, Wall Hangings, Lamps and etc.
